Learn how to arc your putter properly!

The smallest swing in golf is when putting. Yet, we make so many errors when trying to improve our putting. This drill is great to gain the feel of how the putter should swing properly on the arc. Unlike the putting arc device, this drill forces you to swing it properly and gives you feedback. The putting arc guides it for you. If I have the choice of the 2 drills, I prefer this one in order to learn what the proper putting arc feels like.

Step 1 – Find an 8 foot straight putt

Step 2 – Place a club or alignment stick outside of the toe of the putter for direction

Step 3 – Place a golf tee outside of the toe of the putter a couple inches behind the ball (see picture)

Step 4 – Place a golf tee inside of the heel of the putter a couple inches on the follow through

Practice

It is best to do this drill when first arriving to the putting green. It helps you establish a good feel for the correct stroke. Once you complete this drill, you should do a different drill that focuses on your speed and feel, similar to how you would putt on the golf course.

Goal

1. Make 10 putts in a row
