Practice low-draw pitch shots to improve your distance

If you look at PGA Tour players, you will notice that they all have different looking swings, but they all have 2 things in common –

  1. Tempo
  2. Impact

After working with thousands of golfers we have realized that the majority of golfers have a poor impact position, leading to lose of distance and accuracy. Most golfers also hit high slices as their miss. Watch the video below and incorporate into your practice routine each time you practice to improve your impact, compress the golf ball, hitting it farther and straighter!

A great drill to incorporate into your practice routine to improve impact position is feeling like you hit low draws on 20 yards pitch shots. This drill is great for majority of golfers, but if your miss hit is a hook (which also can be caused from poor impact), alter this drill so you feel like you are hitting just low shots with your hands staying ahead.

Drill – Pitch Shot, Low-Draw

1.Go to the short game area, or find a landing spot 20 yards away

2. Set up in a pitch shot stance

3. Ball position middle of stance

4. Good take away

5. Feel a low draw (hands ahead at impact, club face turning down properly)

6. Hit 20 shots before going to full swings or any other short game shots. Focus on landing it on your landing spot, approximately 20 yards away.

If you do this at the short game area, you are working on your feel to improve your short game as well as improving your full swing! See video and pictures below for more details on how to execute these drills.
