Basic tendencies and how to cure fat golf shots

Hitting a fat golf shot on the golf course is a terrible feeling. how to cure fat golf shots

What are the basic reasons for creating a fat golf shot?

  1. Weight transfer through the golf swing – This is caused when we load our weight onto our back foot in the backswing and fail to transfer our weight back to the front foot when starting our down swing.
  2. Reverse pivot – This is when all of our weight goes to the front foot on our backswing and then our weight falls back to our back foot when starting our downswing.
  3. Coming out of posture through the shot – Coming out of posture refers to having your head go up and down throughout the golf swing. Your head should stay pretty level when swinging the golf club. A simple tip you could do is video your golf swing face on, and draw a line on the top of your head. If your head goes up above the line or down below the line, you need to work on turning in posture. This is one of the most difficult things to do in the golf swing.

As you can see there are a variety of factors that cause you to hit a fat golf shot. By watching the golf channel or golf instructional videos this can only screw things up even worse. That is why it is important to have a qualified PGA Golf Professional evaluate your swing and equipment. There is not a “one size fits all solution” everyone has different cause and effect tendencies in the golf swing.
