This week we will be implementing golf fitness back into our junior academy program. Training the body specifically for golf movements is extremely important in your overall development as a player.
HOUSTON GOLF FITNESS PROGRAM FOR JUNIOR GOLFERS
Programming for today’s golfer must address factors such as appropriate forms of flexibility, increasing stabilization strength and endurance, and training in a multiplanar environment. All of these forms of training have been specifically designed to follow physiological principles of the human movement system to provide a systematic progression to training, minimizing injury and maximizing the athlete’s results.
We will be focusing on developing functional strength and neuromuscular efficiency. Functional strength is the ability of the neuromusculoskeletal system to efficiently and effectively produce force, reduce force, and dynamically stabilize the entire human movement system during functional movements. Neuromuscular efficiency is the ability of the central nervous system (CNS) to allow muscle groups to work interdependently during dynamic athletic activities. Functional athletic activities – such as a golf swing – are multiplanar , requiring dynamic stabilization in multiple planes for optimal neuromuscular efficiency and performance.
